Mary (Severance) Edwards, 97 passed away on Saturday March 29, 2014 at Copley Hospital in Morrisville. She lived the last five years of her life at The Manor. She was born in Colchester on March 1, 1917, the daughter of the late Charles L. and Laura M. (Plante) Severance. Mary graduated from Cambridge High School in 1936 and was a graduate of Fanny Allen School of Nursing. Mary married Thomas Smith Edwards on October 23, 1937 in Adams, NY. He predeceased her on May 18, 1983.

Mary was employed as a practical nurse at Kerbs Hospital in St. Albans for many years. She was on the State Board of Nursing from 1973 – 1983. Mary was also a member of the Second Congregational Church in Jeffersonville, Green Mountain Auxiliary #3210 Fraternal Order of Eagles, Jeffersonville Cemetery Association, Crescendo Club and Cambridge Historical Society.

She leaves her sister Virginia Mangels, two sons Smith T. Edwards and his wife Janice, Ronald C. Edwards and his wife Barbara, her daughter Sharon McNally and husband Gary, a daughter-in-law Jenene Edwards, 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary was also predeceased by her son Gale E. Edwards, grandson Ross H. Edwards, 3 brothers; Leland Severance, Erwin Severance, Bertrand Severance and 2 sisters Bernice Severance and Lorice McLane.

Visiting hours will be held from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday April 6, 2014 at A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel, 1176 Main St., Fairfax, VT 05454. A funeral service will be held at the Second Congregational Church, Jeffersonville, VT on Monday April 7, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Mick Comstock officiating. Burial will be held in the Spring in the family lot in Jeffersonville Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Second Congregational Church of Jeffersonville, P.O. Box 188, Jeffersonville, VT 05464 or the Jeffersonville Cemetery Association, P.O.
