Eleanor Loretta (Cross) Owen passed away at Vermont Respite House on Wednesday March 25, 2015 with her loving family by her side. She was born in St. Albans on Oct. 15, 1928 to the late Phillip and Selina (Deso) Cross. She later married the love of her life Gordon and together they raised three sons. They settled into the Town of Williston where they owned and operated an excavating and crane business. Eleanor enjoyed many things in her life including traveling the country with her husband Gordon in their motor home, dancing, cooking, cards, and especially her family. Eleanor also enjoyed sitting for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, having them for over nights and taking them shopping. Her favorite time of year was Christmas and she loved having her whole family at her house to share with them. She will be remembered by her family as one of the best cooks.

She is survived by her three sons, Gordon Owen Jr. and wife, Jackie, Clifford Owen and his girlfriend, Dorothy Murray, and Richard Owen and his wife, Linda; eight grandchildren, Chad Owen, Stacey and husband, Roger Fortin, Jesse Owen, Jason Owen and girlfriend, Sarah Plunkett, Krystal and husband, Joshua Fuller, Angie and husband, Josh Willet, Scott Owen, and Heidi and Chris Lavalette; and five great-grandchildren, Jesslyn Owen, Aly Owen, Hunter Fortin, Austin Owen and Cassie Willet. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Gordon Owen Sr., and her five brothers and four sisters and Great Grandson Morgan Owen.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Mar. 31, 2015, from 1 to 3 p.m. with a service at 3 p.m. in A W Rich Funeral Home – Essex Chapel, 57 Main St. Essex Jct. Burial will be in the spring in Deerview Cemetery in Williston. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Vermont Respite House or Williston Rescue.
