Ronald E. Trudo, 77, passed away on April 18, 2015 at the UVM Medical Center. He was born on October 21, 1937 in Troy, New York, the son of the late Charles and Helen (Bombard) Trudo.

Ron graduated from Burlington High School then served in the Vermont Air National Guard. He was employed by the Burlington Free Press. Later, Ron owned and operated the Center Variety Store in Essex Center then worked as a repairman at the House of Sewing. Ron was a founding member of the Essex Town Fire Department, achieving the rank of first captain. He also was a Justice of the Peace.

“Ronnie” enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, fishing, hunting, staying at the Maine Coast, and time at his camp. He often visited casinos with his wife “Sandy”. Ron loved being a grandpa, earning the name “Bampie”. He and Sandra helped with their grandchildren's care, which pleased him immensely.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Sandra Trudo of Essex, 3 sons John E. Trudo and wife Donna of Shelburne, Michael E. Trudo and partner Mark LeTourneau of South Burlington, Thomas E. Trudo of Essex, his daughter Anne T. Follett and husband Andy of Burlington; his sister Suzanne Martin and husband David of Williston, brothers-in-law Paul Boileau and wife Nancy of Burlington, Robert Boileau and wife Carol of Andover, MA; 2 grandsons Avery and Alden Follett, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Many thanks to family and visitors for their love and support in Ron's last days, including his Cardiac Rehab family. Dad, you will certainly be missed.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday April 22, 2015, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Essex Chapel, 57 Main St., Essex Jct., VT 05452. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday April 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X, with Reverend Charles Ranges, S.S.E. officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in New Mount Calvary Cemetery, Burlington. Memorial contributions in Ron’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, Vermont Chapter, 434 Hurricane Lane, Williston, VT 05495.
