James Arnold Nickerson Sr.
J. Arnold Nickerson
Arnold passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017 in UVM Medical Center Burlington, VT after a brief illness. He had made his home in Underhill. VT for the past 20 plus years. Born in Boston, MA on August 24, 1931, he was 85 years old. A graduate of North Quincy High School, class of 1949 and Northeastern
University class of 1955.
He and his Father founded Nickerson Machinery Company, a supplier of parts and equipment to the Plastics Injection Molding Industry. Also a founder of Nickerson Theaters with locations in both Norwell, MA and Sudbury, MA. After moving to VT he was the President of P-Q Systems, a supplier of Auxiliary Equipment and Systems for the Plastics Industry.
A lifelong lover of boating, he was a member of Squantum Yacht Club in his early years and owned both
sailboats and a power boat. He was an avid reader and enjoyed studying all things related to WWII. He travelled extensively in Europe and Asia and held a pilot’s license for many years.
He leaves his loving companion, Marilyn D’Angelo, his brother Robie Nickerson and wife Pauline of Weymouth, MA, five children: Sue DeRochea and her husband Robert of Halifax, MA, Jay Nickerson of Burlington, VT, Shelby White and her husband Jonathon of E. Bridgewater, MA, Blake LaFond and his wife Danielle of Converse, TX. and Jack Bulger of Nantucket, MA. Arnold also leaves eleven Grandchildren: James, Madeline, Alexandra, Daniel, Aidan, Jillian, Zachary, Alyana, Kyrie, Layle and Sienna, and a Niece, Sherri Conte and her husband Michael of Halifax. MA.
Burial will be in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy MA at 11:00 a.m. on August 21, 2017.
