She was just a kid at heart

It was Halloween, way back in the late 1950's-early 1960's and at the time, I was living with my parents and sister in Astoria, New York, just two blocks away from Aunt Mary and her family.  I came over to take Jim trick or treating with me.  When I arrived, Aunt Mary was so excited because it was Halloween and she had made individual bags of candy for the trick or treaters.  She even put a few pennies in each bag.  I was so impressed and I told her she wouldn't have them for long.  She laughed and said, "Oh Amelia, who is going to walk 4 flights of stairs to ring my bell.? " Jim and I left to do our trick or treating and when we got back, Aunt Mary said, "Guess what-the candy bags were all gone in half an hour." The kids must have told all their friends that there was a special treasure on the 4th floor.  We had a good laugh and on my way out, she said "But I saved one for you, Amelia"...and in that bag, she didn't just have a few pennies, but several dollars as well as candy.   I don't remember how old I was, but I was tickled pink.  This is just a little childhood memory of mine, but it shows Aunt Mary's enthusiastic and generous spirit as well as her childlike heart.  I was blessed to have known her.
