Obituary for Richard Cantu

Richard Cantu, born February 11, 1951, in Genoa, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 30, 2018. He was surrounded by lots of love and family members.

Richard lived in Ohio and worked at Collingwood Water until 1984. His free time in Ohio was spent with family, friends, and coaching his daughters' softball team. He then moved his family to Arlington, Texas, where he started his truck driving career at Winn Dixie.

He had a passion for his family, who always came first, friends, good food, and music, especially The Beatles. He enjoyed asking others to name songs on the radio, and would give them $10 if they got it right. He loved to cook along side his daughter, Shellie, with his favorite dish being eggrolls (they made him do the moonwalk). He lived his life to the fullest, always with a smile on his face, and made a friend everywhere he went. Those who loved him knew he had his own special language, with an abundance of catch phrases and nicknames for everyone. His sense of humor, generosity, and loving nature will remain unmatched. He will remain in the hearts of many, and will be so missed.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Cantu, father, Rosendo Castilleja, brother, Robert Cantu and sister, Mary Garza,. He is survived by daughters Shellie (Ed) Minnis and Teresa (Anthony) Lowe, grandchildren Alyssa, Autumn, and Averi Minnis, and Ryan, Cody, and Courtney Danforth, great granddaughters Bralynn and Kynnzleigh Ducey, and siblings Raul (Pat) Cantu, Ruben (Debbie) Cantu, Rosa Cantu, and Josie Castilleja Sanchez.

A celebration of life on July 14th in Genoa Ohio, the time and place to be announced.
