Obituary for Howard Holt Lyman

Howard Holt Lyman
Howard Holt Lyman, 82 years old of Greensboro Bend, VT passed away unexpectedly at North Country Regional Hospital on May 31, 2018. He was the husband of Pierette (Lehouiller) Lyman. They shared fifty-eight years of wedded bliss of which he was very proud. Howard was born on February 17, 1936 in Hinesburg son of the late Leland and Doris (Hinsdale) Lyman.

Howard graduated from Hinesburg High School and went on to join the Vermont Army National Guard while working for the family business Iroquois Manufacturing. In 1965 he was employed by General Electric for fifteen years and very proudly helped to develop and build the Falcon gun system used by the military. In 1980 Howard returned to the family business until he retired in 2002 leaving his legacy with his sons. Howard continued to be a part of the business right up until his passing.

Howard was a very talented precision craftsman, able to build anything out of steel and wood. He enjoyed spending time in his wood working shop, tending to his large garden that fed many people, and was often found sitting around a table of friends and family playing cards. He will be remembered for his generosity, willingness to give a hand to anyone when in need, and his signature “Howie Hat”.

Howard is survived by his loving wife Pierrette Lehouiller, 3 sons Tod Lyman and wife Kelly, Garret Lyman and wife Dale, Shawn Lyman, his sister Elizabeth “Betty” Dawson, 3 granddaughters Kasey Lyman, Jenna Heney and husband David, Sydnee Lyman, 3 grandsons, Jack Lyman, Nickolas Lyman, Keegan Lyman and 2 great grandchildren Cooper & Tessa Heney.

Per Howard’s wishes there will be no visiting hours held. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday June 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Jude Catholic Church, Hinesburg, VT. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family in the family lot in St. Thomas Cemetery, Underhill Center. Memorial contributions in Howard’s memory may be made to St. Michaels Church, Mary Queen of all Saints, P.O. Box 496, Hardwick, VT 05843.
