Obituary for Joseph Kenneth White

Joseph Kenneth White
Joseph Kenneth “Mickey” White, passed away on Tuesday, June 05, 2018, surrounded by his loving and devoted family at UVM Medical Center in Burlington, VT. He was ninety years old.
Joseph was born October 09, 1927 in Cohoes, NY to David E. White and Emma (Beaupre) White. He is predeceased by his nine siblings, Earl, David, William, Ella, Jan, Inez, Patricia, Marilyn and Hazel. And by his wife of twenty-six years Mary White (Taft) also from St. Albans area. He most recently resided in St. Albans, VT. He was a proud veteran of WWII, serving in France and Germany in 1941-1943, and a member of the local VFW in Swanton, VT, and the American Legion in St. Albans, Vermont.
His heart beat for music. He followed it wherever it took him for over sixty years. Joe was a lifelong musician, playing in bands such as “Country Kings” in the Cohoes, NY area as well as “Touch of Country” in the Swanton/ St. Albans, VT region. He shared this passion with the community, and prided himself on teaching guitar to well over one hundred people in his lifetime.
He also enjoyed reading, billiards, boxing, and smoking his pipe on the back porch. Most importantly he enjoyed his family: sharing a laugh and watching his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren grow. The amount of love and kindness he readily poured into his family and friends will always be remembered.
Joseph is survived by his three devoted children; Chris White, Amy Payne (White), and Angel White, as well as his lifelong friend and mother to their children, Sandra White. He is a proud grandfather to, Shane White, Graham, Phoebe & Marissa Payne, Choudari, Mohini, and Roma Vallabhaneni, and a proud great- grandfather to the fourth generation carrying his name, Avery White.
He will be remembered for the endless encouragement for every person to follow their passion as he followed his, for his ability to light up a room with personality, and for his effortless way of lifting the spirit of those around him. His children, grandchildren and his closest friends will miss him dearly.
Joseph had a deep heart for others and those suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Williston, VT at (802) 316-3839.
Per his request, there will be no service. The family invites you to share your memories and condolences by visiting www.awrfh.com.
