Obituary for Catherine Ellen Marshall (Marshall)

Catherine Ellen Marshall, left us on October 28, 2018. She was born May 6, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Lila (Shephard) Marshall of Waterbury Center, Vermont.

Catherine went to school in Waterbury Center and then to Waterbury High School, graduating in 1956.

Catherine worked in the Waterbury and Stowe areas until 1960, moved to Pennsylvania, worked in a bake shop and hospitals, and later in Levittown as a cook in a rectory.

Catherine moved back to Burlington in 1964, worked as an aide in Burlington Hospitals, entered the Fanny Allen School of Practical Nursing in March of 1966, and graduated in 1967. She worked at Fanny Allen and both hospitals in Burlington. She went on to the University of Vermont School of Nursing in 1971, earning her Associates in Science in 1973. She moved to Waterbury in February 1975 and worked at the Vermont State Hospital until May 1988, then took a job at CVH on the Psychiatric unit from 1988-1992. In between working, Catherine took courses at Vermont College and Norwich University.

Catherine enjoyed reading, music, helping others, and animals (especially her white cat, Snowflake). She was a very generous person, giving freely to not only those that needed her help personally but to many charities that involved children, pets and veterans.

Catherine is predeceased by a daughter, Laura Rojas-Vail in September 2014; 2 brothers, Milo Marshall in 1992 and Ray Marshall in 2012.

Catherine leaves behind 2 grandsons; Eugene Williams and Kennett Rojas-Vail and one great granddaughter, Nilah Marie all of Maryland .

Survivors also include her brother, Roy Marshall and his wife TC of Waterbury Center; nephews, John Marshall (his companion Tammy and her daughters Haley and Cadance), and Dennis Marshall; nieces, Susan Connolly (her husband Robert), Judy Long (her husband Anthony), Amy Marshall-Carney (her husband Mike), Shannon Marshall-Towndrow (her husband Wedsel ‘Buddy’); grandnephews, Dale Marshall, Robert Connolly II, Cody Long (his wife Hannah), Colin Brown (son Michael), Connor Towndrow, Eziah Marshall-Carney, Wedsel Towndrow; grandnieces, Kelly Anderson (her husband Kevin and their daughter Riley), Amanda Connolly (her husband Chris and their daughters Sydney and Emily), Loren Marshall, and Taylor Marshall-Carney.

Catherine was a long-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Catherine has requested no services and will be laid to rest in the Marshall Family plot, at the Hope Cemetery in Waterbury Vermont.
