Obituary for Thomas Lloyd Davis

Cambridge - Tom Lloyd Davis, 82, passed away New Year’s day at the Arbors in Shelburne while under their wonderful care for Alzheimer’s disease. Born on Dec. 13, 1936, in New York City to Hal and Barbara Davis, Tom was a graduate of the Hun School in Princeton, NJ and Middlebury College, Vermont, where he was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. After graduation he was a member of the New Jersey National Guard for 6 years.

Tom was a career Human Resource executive with contributions at Mutual of New York, Alexander & Alexander, and many years at Smugglers’ Notch Resort as a highly respected member of the management team. Tom was a past President of the Smugglers’ Notch Homeowner’s Association.

On January 4,1969, Tom married Marclay Fowler of San Antonio, Texas, a Green Mountain College graduate. Tom leaves Marclay, two sons, Hal Clayton Davis and Bruce Fowler Davis as well has his daughter-in-law Mara, and his former daughter-in-law, Donna. They were special to him. He very much loved his two grandsons, Jack and Morgan. Watching his grandsons grow into fine adults gave him great pleasure. He was very fond of his many nieces and nephews, spouses and children. He also leaves behind his very special friend of 62 years, Bill Stritzler as well as Bill’s family.

Tom was predeceased by his sisters Lynne Good and Valerie Clark, and half brother Hal. Tom’s life was enhanced by his now deceased stepmother, Myrtle and her sister Grace (Sis).

Tom relished his life, having fun times with his many friends and family. He enjoyed many adventures skiing, horseback riding, scuba diving, and other water sports. He loved to travel, his favorite being his trip to Africa. He especially enjoyed visits to the Owen Good Ranch in Belton, MO. where he helped to round up cattle and visited his sister Lynne and her husband Gib Good and their family.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Arbors and Bayata Hospice for all the loving care they gave Tom while he was with them.

Per wishes of the family there will be no services at this time. At a date to be announced there will be a celebration of Tom’s life at Smugglers’ Notch Resort.
