Another Day of Fishing

Story from Leon King

Before Delmar and Madeline were married and just before the end of WWII, Delmar went trout fishing and the brooks were low. He walked up to the brook and he could hear this noise that sounded like scraping gravel. When he got closer he could see what was making the noise. It was a big brown trout flapping back and forth in the pool which was almost dried up. Delmar felt sorry for the fish because it was going to die, so he decided to catch the trout bare handed and he brought it home to Madeline's mother's house where they were living at the time. The trout was 18 inches long. The next day there was a bad thunderstorm and the brook flooded over the banks. That day was also the day WWII ended.
