Words are inadequate in describing our heartfelt sadness and sorrow at the death of our close friend, Mike Stanton, and that we cannot attend his memorial service in person to pay a final tribute, adds to this sadness. For over forty-five years, we were blessed to know Mike, to share past holidays, birthdays, and many celebrations. Mike was a part of our lives, whether it was playing bridge, hitting the golf course, trading recently read books, or even accompanying a friend on a deer hunting excursion (imagine that one). We will miss his quick, dry wit; his stubborn and determined spirit; his loyalty; his love for the Red Sox, even when they disappointed him (well, okay, maybe he did switch to the Atlanta Braves, but we feel that was a temporary glitch); his sometimes irascible nature, which always made us laugh. Yes, without a doubt, we will miss you, Mike. With that said, we plan to mix up a batch of Rusty Nails and drink to our friend. Rest in peace, dear friend, and know that you had an impact on more than one person in your circle of life.
