Dear family and friends of Tom: We were so sorry to learn of Tom's untimely death and now we are distressed to find that we will be unable to attend either memorial service. On Mt.Philo we would want to say how privileged we feel to have known Tom and to have counted him among our friends. We met him when we moved to Middlebury in 2007 and hired him to undertake some major carpentry and painting jobs in the home we were renting. He continued in this role of handyperson right up until this year and soon became a friend. He helped us move our household twice, carefully and efficiently. We soon found that we shared many interests and opinions on matters political, economic and cultural. Our conversations were often lengthy and ranged widely. Tom was knowledgeable on numerous subjects. He was extremely well read.He was kindly, proud, independent, a very special person. It was always a pleasure to engage with him. He was unfailingly helpful to us in many ways. We miss him. We send our condolences to his family. May he rest in peace. Holly & Bob
